Performance inside the popular culture

The Second Biennial of Performance has new proposes. One of the most important thing is to situate the actions into a general level. This includes the critic spectator but also everyone can access to the areas and language of this art and it doesn’t matter if he has or not the artistic formation or the related resources.

This is the reason for us to count with different universities and institutions –public and private- that will present the performances sceneries and the video installations of national and foreigner artists, all inside the urban center of Santiago de Chile. Also, diverse districts of the entire area of the Región Metropolitana will provide simultaneous spaces to the different biennial audience.

Another impulse of Deformes 2008 is to generate an expansive and social occasion, so the different works will be translated in a second date to the city of Valdivia, located in the Región de los Ríos. This displacement obeys to the extensive project done since 2007 to connect the south zone of Chile with the rest of the country and continent. This way has been created a place where the visual arts, anthropology and social psychology can be exchange. The unexplored boundaries become in workshop where the reflection about the studies and practice of performance can be completed.
